March 29 saw the 3rd Diesel and Dirt Derby roar into action, with a massive weekend of noise, sunshine and huge crowds.
Over 5000 people attended the action-packed day, with many travelling from Adelaide as well as interstate.
Feedback such as “WOW! Noise, smoke and even flames, flying dirt and scary moments added to the total excitement! What a wonderful day” certainly confirms the day was a huge success for organisers, competitiors and spectators.
We were able to host Round 8 of the National Competition for the Australian Tractor Pullers Association, which saw competitors attend from all across the country. Large crowds enjoyed seeing the impressively built range of tractors, and were a highlight of the day.
The highly anticipated Header Demolition Derby was the main attraction, and the crowds were certainly not disappointed. Locals had spent hours in the leadup to the event making sure their ‘old girl’ was going to go the distance, and there was a fair bit of adrenalin amongst the drivers pre race. At the end of the day, there may not have been too many headers in one piece, but the last man standing was Aaron Prettijohn and his faithful New Holland header.
There were plenty of family friendly attractions throughout the day – fashion parades, V8 simulator, kids rides, a pop-up Pimms tent and live music – all this created a wonderful atmosphere for the whole family.
A huge thankyou to everyone who supported this unique event, and we are on track to booking a date for 2015 so you can enjoy another weekend of loud machines and some country atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you there!
